FSSAI stands for the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India which is an autonomous body established under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and the Food Safety & Standards Act of 2006. It ensures that hygiene and safety standards to be maintained in the food business so that people get hygienic & quality food. 

Regulation is done on manufacturing, storage, distribution, sale & import of food items to ensure safe and wholesome food 

Why FSSAI registration is necessary for restaurants or food outlets?

• As the standard of living of the people has improved, people have started eating out as result number of the restaurant have also mushroomed in the recent years, hence, most of the customers want to have good quality food which has been certified for safe consumption. The credibility of the restaurant business increases due to the FSSAI logo on the menu and pamphlets

• The standard of the restaurant business operations improves when the restaurant has an FSSAI license. FSSAI license is also issued only to those restaurants which meet the specification, hence the standardization in the kitchen and back end spaces needs to be achieved by the FSSAI guidelines.

• Every food package must have a label containing the logo of the FSSAI & the license number

Here is a list of documents required for FSSAI registration:

• Photo of the food business operator

• Document for Identity proof like Ration card, the Voter ID card, Pan Card, Driving License, Passport, Aadhar Card, Senior Citizen Card, Department Issued ID.

Supporting Documents (if any):- NOC by the Municipality or the Panchayat, Health NOC.

Gumasta license basically Shop Act Licence which issued by the state under Shop and establishment act

If you are starting a new business, let's say you will need an important license, which is the Shop act Licence or is called as Gumasta License. Basically in India when you start any type of business with the physical shop then business requires the Shop Act Licence/Gumasta license from your state authority.

Gumasta License was introduced to look after the employee's rights and another establishment in the jurisdiction. It is necessary to apply for Gumasta while establishing a shop, hotel, or any other commercial place. It also helps to regulate the betterment of employees such as in which condition does he works, payment, rules and provide maximum benefits for the employees.

The shop and establishment registration should contain the following details such as the name of the employer and manager, name of the establishment, nature of business, number of workers, and such other details as may be prescribed. The Facilitator shall issue to the employer of such Shop establishment a receipt of intimation in such form and manner as may be prescribed.
